Western Digital WD3200AAKS-00VYA0 spindle motor seizure recovery
Michael, a resident of El Paso, TX, called ACE Data Recovery lab for help after his Western Digital WD3200AAKS-00VYA0 hard drive had got "frozen" and inaccessible. After our in-depth examination, it was determined that Michael's HDD had a kind of a spindle problem known as motor seizure. In such cases, hard disk drives usually make clear tapping, buzzing or beeping noises and platters don't spin up. The issue takes place when two smooth drive parts (r/w heads and the platter) get stuck together and prevent spindle motor from spinning up. In most cases, seizure of the motor bearing is a direct consequence of a physical shock. To get customer's data from the faulty Western Digital WD3200AAKS-00VYA0 hard drive, ACE engineers decided to change a failed motor to a new one taken from a donor drive. In a cleanroom environment, the hard drive was disassembled and defective drive part was successfully renewed. Finally, with the use of specific tools developed by ACE Data Recovery engineering staff, an image of Michael's Western Digital WD3200AAKS-00VYA0 was created and 100% of client’s data was recovered. When the retrieved data was reviewed by our Quality Control department, it was copied to a new hard disk drive and sent back to El Paso.
