WD Black D50 Game Dock Features

SSD Drive Recovery WD

Western Digital D50 Game Dock is the device from its gaming series WD Black. It is mainly targeted at laptop gamers or content creators that are looking for improved connectivity and want to make the most of their Thunderbolt 3 ports. The dock offers high speeds with NVMe technology, more capacity for games, and multiple ports for accessories – all powered by a single Thunderbolt 3 cord.

The compact D50 dock is small enough to fit under a monitor, so it doesn’t take up too much desk space. The overall design is similar to the rest of the WD Black line, sort of a rugged crate from a video game.

Unlike most other docks, the D50 houses an optional M.2 NVMe SSD. The WD Black D50 Game Dock comes with either 1TB or 2TB of internal NVMe storage. They can provide gamers with up to 3GB/s read and up to 2.5GB/s write. The higher capacity can add up to 50 games, depending on their size. But computer users who are uninterested in the SSD can opt for the configuration without an NVMe SSD.

WD Black D50 Game Dock has two Thunderbolt 3, five USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (three type-A and two type-C), Gigabit Ethernet port, 3.5mm Audio In/Out, and a DisplayPort 1.4 port for adding an additional monitor.

The WD Black D50 Game Dock has customizable RGB lighting with 13 different LED pattern effects that are programmable through the WD Black dashboard. To control the lighting, users need to download the WD Black dashboard app. The dashboard allows users to control light patterns as well as monitor the SSD drive health and optimize its performance. The aesthetics of the GUI matches the overall feel of the WD Black motif.

The WD Black D50 Game Dock provides a simple way to add connectivity to platforms that users wish had more options. All WD Black D50 Game Docks are also backed by a 5-year warranty.
